A normal tuning takes about 1-1/2 to 2  hours. Please make arrangements for the room to be quiet and the tuner undisturbed so they can do the best possible job on your piano. Make sure the piano is cleared off before the tuner arrives (picture frames, flower vases, knick knacks, etc…) The tuner will need to remove the front of the piano, open the top and likely take off the bottom panel on an upright. If your piano has not been tuned in a long time it may need more than one tuning to keep it in pitch. Most pianos need at least two tunings a year to stay in good shape. If it is played a lot three to four tunings may be necessary. Humidity drastically affects a piano. You can help by monitoring the humidity in the room. It should be kept between 40-45% year round. A humidifier can help in the winter and a dehumidifier in the summer. The Dampp Chaser Piano Life Saver System can also be installed in your piano to maintain the right humidity in your instrument.
